Meet the Eater

Hello, there.

I’m Marissa McEntire. I’m a Kansas City native with a passion for cooking, eating and writing, and I’ve been daydreaming for a while about a way to combine my love of all three. Thus, The Delish Daily was born. I’d started noticing all of the ‘national foodie days’ gaining traction on social media, and at first I thought they were kinda hokey, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought there might be something to it.

‘Good’ and ‘Food’ are only one alphabetical letter apart. Which is maybe how two words at once so simple, when put together, can at the same time mean something so significant. People should enjoy food, and not just any food, but good food. And why not do so every day?

So I set out to find out how many of these ‘food days’ actually existed. Turns out, it’s a lot. Not necessarily every single day, but close to. I compiled lists and cross referenced calendars from a variety of websites and online searches, and while with things like this not everything will be 100% accurate and fact driven, that is not the point. The point, is to find small ways to celebrate each day with food and to get out of my comfort zone by trying new things.

And that is what you will find here on my blog. While I cannot possibly cover every single food-related holiday in one year, I will hold myself accountable to try to do a few each week. Some days I will celebrate by visiting a local restaurant, others I will cook or bake for at home. I am not yet much of a recipe inventor/creator myself, and will source the majority of my recipes through my family, cookbooks, Pinterest or the omnipotent Google search, giving credit where credit is due.

So follow along to see what new deliciousness each day brings!
